Goldendoodle Photography in Chicago: Capturing Your Goldendoodle’s Joyful Personality

Couple with their small dog, family portraits by Chicago pet photography by Candice C. Cusic

Goldendoodles have an incredible zest for life.

They’re playful.

Affectionate.

Intelligent.

Always ready for an adventure—or happy to curl up beside the people they love.

It’s easy to understand why they’ve become one of the most popular family dogs.

As a Chicago pet photographer, I believe the best Goldendoodle portraits capture much more than a beautiful face.

They capture the joyful spirit that makes your dog unlike any other.

Every Goldendoodle Is Different

Spend a few minutes with a group of Goldendoodles and you’ll quickly discover something.

No two are alike.

Some are fearless explorers.

Some are comedians who seem determined to make everyone laugh.

Others are calm, gentle companions who simply want to be close to their family.

Those individual personalities are what make every portrait unique.

Their Expressions Change in an Instant

Goldendoodles are wonderfully expressive.

One moment they’re watching every move you make.

The next they’re smiling, tilting their head, or racing across the room with excitement.

Those expressions don’t last long.

Capturing them isn’t about asking your dog to pose perfectly.

It’s about recognizing the moment before it disappears.

That Beautiful Coat Deserves Beautiful Photography

Goldendoodles are famous for their soft, wavy, or curly coats.

Professional lighting reveals every curl, every highlight, and every subtle texture that phone cameras often miss.

Instead of looking flat, their coats appear rich, dimensional, and full of life.

The goal isn’t simply to photograph beautiful fur.

It’s to create portraits that feel as warm as the dog standing in front of the camera.

We Let Your Dog Set the Pace

Every studio portrait session lasts up to two hours.

There’s no rushing.

No pressure.

Your Goldendoodle has time to explore, sniff around, play, and settle into the experience.

The best portraits often happen after dogs forget about the camera altogether.

That’s when their true personality shines.

Every Session Includes a Professional Animal Trainer

Every studio portrait session includes a professional animal trainer.

While I concentrate on lighting, composition, and capturing authentic moments, our trainer focuses entirely on your Goldendoodle’s comfort, confidence, and safety.

That partnership creates a calm environment where your dog can simply be themselves.

Goldendoodles Love Being With Their Families

Goldendoodles are deeply connected to the people they love.

That’s why many families choose to be part of the portraits.

A laugh between a child and their dog.

A quiet cuddle.

A hand resting gently on a familiar head.

Those moments tell the story of your relationship in a way a portrait of your dog alone never could.

More Than a Photograph

Every phone is filled with snapshots.

Professional portraiture is something different.

It’s creating artwork that reminds you exactly how your Goldendoodle looked at you.

How they made you laugh.

How they made your house feel like home.

Years from now, those are the moments you’ll be grateful you preserved.

Ready to Celebrate Your Goldendoodle?

Whether your Goldendoodle is a playful puppy, a beloved family companion, or enjoying their senior years, I’d love to help create artwork that celebrates everything that makes them unique.

Dama arrived at the studio in a wheelchair.
⠀
That was the first thing I noticed.
⠀
It was also the least interesting thing about her.
⠀
What I remember is her determination.

Her curiosity.

Her joy.

I created The See Hear Love Project to help animals like Blanca.
⠀
Painfully shy. Dumped on a road before the rain came. Nervous around strangers. Ears down. Tail tucked.
⠀
For those new to the project, these are not carefree, well-adjusted animals. Many have experienced neglect, abandonment, fear, or loss.
⠀
Sometimes we only get one photograph when they truly relax.
⠀
Thankfully, we only need one.

Special thanks to @sayvanimalorg for bringing Blanca to The See Hear Love Project.

One of the best things about photographing Ramona is watching everyone react to a pig in the building.

People stopped.

They smiled.

They took selfies.

One gentleman asked if I could wait so he could FaceTime his girlfriend because she loves pigs.

The hardest thing about photographing a pig is that pigs don't stop moving.

Ever.

This portrait worked because Ramona kept walking in circles, allowing us to see her body and face at the same time.

Not shown: Ramona chewed up the paper backdrop on set. Her pig squeal echoed through the studio—loud, proud, and impossible to ignore, just like Ramona herself.

"Thank you

for saving my life."

— Ramona

The See Hear Love Project combines professional photography and animal communication. Each portrait is paired with one of the most powerful messages the animal shared during their communication session.

Some dogs don’t just fit into a family — they become part of its heartbeat.

Eddie was pure joy to photograph with his two favorite people. The connection between them was effortless, loving, and completely real.

    Meet Zeno.

After being surrendered by his owner, Zeno has spent more than a year waiting at Red Door Animal Shelter for someone to choose him.

And somehow, after all this time, he’s still soft. Still trusting. Still hopeful.

Cats like Zeno don’t need perfection. They just need someone willing to see them.
