Mona and Pete are former wedding clients who now have a beautiful daughter, Simone!  I met them for a quick shoot at North Avenue Beach to recreate a photograph we made while shooting their Chicago engagement session, only now we added baby Simone for a family photograph!  Here are the originals with the finished product.

It’s been a few years since your wedding at Chicago Salvage One, I’m so happy for you!  I just love when wedding clients become family photography clients, and your daughter is just beautiful.  Thank you so much, Mona and Pete, for allowing me to document your lives!  Very best wishes to you three!

Hanna and Thomas held a small party for family and friends at the very beautiful A New Leaf Chicago after a private courthouse wedding the day before.  We couldn’t have asked for prettier weather!  The outdoor courtyard at A New Leaf was a perfect place for an outdoor wedding party, complete with a music trio and a magician!

Our portrait session in Lincoln Park was such fun.  This couple knows how to laugh, which I adore, and the laughter multiplied when I put a camera in front of this them.  They are so absolutely in love, such a terrific story that I am honored to share.  Thank you so much, Hanna and Thomas, keep smiling and laughing.  Enjoy your wedding photography!

Don’t want to wear white on your wedding day?  You don’t have to… I love photographing unique wedding gowns and accessories!  Each bride is unique, and so her is dress!  As a Chicago wedding photographer, I have the privilege to photograph amazing true love of all shapes and sizes. Some of my favorite weddings to photograph have been those with nontraditional, unique details that fit the couple perfectly — one-of-a-kind touches, handmade accessories and, of course, unique wedding gowns.

I am so lucky to photograph weddings in Chicago, the North Shore and around the country. I especially love to work with fun, funky couples that stay true to themselves, and recognize that sometimes, a nontraditional, unique wedding gown is perfect for the bride and for their wedding day.

Brides who decide to get married in unique wedding dresses are so inspiring, creative and fun. Often, these weddings are some of the most incredible events to document as a wedding photographer. With so many unique, stunning details, and such comfortable, honest attitudes among family and friends, I am able to find so many incredible moments to photograph on your wedding day.

I love to be the wedding photographer for celebrations with fun accessories, interesting details and unique wedding gowns. I’ve photographed unique wedding dresses of all shapes, sizes and colors — dresses with feathers, dresses with intricate beadwork, purple wedding dresses, mint green wedding dresses, yellow wedding dresses — and have found that when a bride is comfortable in her unique wedding dress, she absolutely shines in photographs.

I love to photograph weddings — especially those weddings that are full of unique touches by the bride and groom. I photographed one of my favorite brides in a gorgeous yellow wedding dress at the Montauk Club in Brooklyn, NY. At Gallery 1028, Andrea got married in a beautiful, custom lilac wedding dress. And at Chicago’s A New Leaf, Jill walked down the aisle in an incredible feathered wedding gown.

I’ve photographed unique wedding gowns in some of the most gorgeous venues in Chicago and the North Shore, including the Chicago Harold Washington LibraryChicago Salvage One, Chicago Waldorf Astoria and destination weddings including Cancun Dreams Resort in Mexico. Such amazing venues make the special details of these weddings truly pop, and I love being the photographer at weddings with one-of-a-kind touches and unique wedding dresses.

If you’d like to learn more about my unique wedding gown photography, please get in touch today so we can set up a time to chat. I look forward to hearing from you!

There aren’t many Chicago photography classes left in our beautiful city, which is why I love teaching my Moment-Driven Photojournalism Workshop in downtown Chicago.

This 2-day shooting workshop is designed to shake up your eye and help you see things differently.  During portrait sessions, you can stop posing and just focus on capturing great moment-driven photographs.  Students step outside their comfort zone by documenting strangers and I’m standing right beside them while they do it.  🙂

Here are some photographs of my students and some of the amazing Chicagoans we had the pleasure of documenting.  I am so proud of my students!

Gloria and Andrew’s black tie wedding at the Chicago Harold Washington Library was simply beautiful.  After a tearful first look at the Chicago Park Hyatt, we ventured to the Chicago Art Institute Gardens for formal portraits of the wedding party.  The ceremony and reception were held in the Winter Garden, the architectural centerpiece of the library, under a gorgeous glass roof that reflected beautiful downtown Chicago.

I asked them both to share some of their own words below.

“In college our lives overlapped in so many ways it’s almost amazing we never met. In fact I spent most of my freshman year hanging out with my friends in the room right next to his. We often talk about how fun it would have been to have met during such a carefree point in our lives but I think the timing was perfect even though it didn’t seem like it at the time.

We met just as I was graduating college and trying to make what at the time felt like monumental decisions about my life. I wasn’t ready to throw in a relationship on top of it. But it quickly became apparent that being with Andrew was the best decision I made.”

“I can’t speak for what Gloria loves about me but she is so thoughtful and fun!  We seem to have a connection and pretty much always know what each other are thinking.

We have been living together for 2 and a half years and they have been lots of fun.  Both of us are a bit of homebodies and we have really enjoyed ourselves in that time.  That is part of why I ended up proposing at home (with all of our favorite foods and treats from around the city).  We had champagne and sat by the fire outside.  We are really excited to start our next adventure in New York!”

This exquisitely beautiful wedding came to life with each team member listed here, and I am quite thankful for the opportunity to work as a team.  Thank you, Gloria and Andrew, for smiling all day, ignoring the cameras and just focusing on one thing.  Being together.  And thank you for one of the most beautiful Horas I have ever had the pleasure to document!  Please enjoy your Chicago Harold Washington Library wedding photographs.
