Most families contact me with one goal.
“We’d love beautiful portraits of our dog.”
And I completely understand.
Your dog is family.
Creating beautiful portraits of them is exactly what I love to do.
But before we begin, I almost always ask one question.
“Who’s coming with your dog?”
Because while your dog may be the reason you booked the session, your family is the reason those photographs become priceless.
Your Dog Doesn’t Live Life Alone
Your dog isn’t simply a beautiful subject.
They’re someone’s hiking partner.
Someone’s couch buddy.
Someone’s running companion.
Someone’s bedtime snuggler.
Someone’s best friend.
Every member of your family has a different relationship with your dog, and each one tells another chapter of your family’s story.
Every Relationship Is Different
Dad might be the one who takes long walks every morning.
Mom might be the favorite lap.
One child throws the tennis ball.
Another sneaks treats under the dinner table.
Your dog loves each family member differently.
That’s one of the beautiful things about photographing families together.
We’re not creating one portrait.
We’re documenting relationships.
Your Family Doesn’t Have to Match
When people hear “family portrait,” they often imagine perfectly coordinated outfits, everyone standing shoulder to shoulder, smiling at the camera.
That’s not what I photograph.
I photograph laughter.
Connection.
Movement.
Quiet moments.
The way your dog naturally moves between the people they love most.
Those moments are infinitely more meaningful than perfect poses.
Every Portrait Session Includes a Professional Animal Trainer
One of the reasons families are often surprised by how relaxed their session feels is because every portrait session includes a professional animal trainer.
While our trainer focuses on your dog’s comfort and attention, I can focus on your family’s interactions.
That allows genuine moments to happen naturally instead of rushing everyone through a checklist of poses.
We’ll Photograph Everyone
During your Portrait Experience we’ll create:
- Beautiful portraits of your dog
- Individual family members with your dog
- Siblings together
- Couples with their dog
- The entire family
- Genuine interactions that happen throughout the experience
By the end of your session, you’ve preserved your family’s complete story.
What I’ve Learned Photographing Families
One of the greatest lessons photography has taught me is that dogs have an incredible way of bringing people together.
I’ve watched children giggle because the dog suddenly kissed them.
Parents laugh because their dog refused to leave someone’s lap.
Grandparents light up the moment their dog rests their head on a knee.
Those weren’t interruptions.
They became the photograph.
Those are the moments families remember.
Someday You’ll Treasure These More Than You Can Imagine
Long after your dog has chased their last tennis ball…
Long after the children have grown up…
Long after this season of life has changed…
These photographs will remind you exactly what your family looked like.
More importantly…
They’ll remind you exactly how your family loved one another.
That’s why I don’t simply photograph dogs.
I photograph the families who are lucky enough to love them.
